The Power of Five – Renault Lodgy

Travelling could be liberating for many. It could make one feel lighter and happier at the same time. But, it’s not easy being a girl who travels. And it’s not only because of the safety concerns India poses to women travellers, which is a story for another day. For today, let’s just concentrate on a lighter issue, but which poses a heavy risk.

Living out of a suitcase should be termed as a life-skill for a traveller. It comes naturally to many. After all one just needs a toothbrush, a pair of jeans and a passport to travel the world. But it ain’t that easy for people like me who need their entire paraphernalia when they travel. For our species, travelling light is a myth. How much ever we try, there’s always a constant need to upgrade the luggage with things that may or may not be required. Trust me, this is not another over-hyped first-world-problem but a real one which surfaces every time we pack. It remains to be seen if my constant travels will ever evolve me into someone who travels light.

But until that happens, thanks to Renault for understanding and bringing a solution. Renault Lodgy comes to rescue for people like me who literally take their world along when they travel. Renault Lodgy and me – we can both use the same bio. If a car could be a soulmate, this one is definitely mine. Ah, a  soulmate with the looks to kill, now that’s what I have been waiting for.

Now that I have found my new(and forver) soulmate, let me tell you that it was not all about looks. Ofcourse, it was love at first sight, but then there has to be a spark to get the ball rolling. The all new Renault Lodgy is nothing but sheer love for me for reasons more than one. Here are the top five though.

There is no such thing as too many shoes. If you’re a girl, you probably know what I mean. If you’re a guy, first try and understand the depth of that sentence and read ahead only when you’re sure you’ve got it right. If you still don’t understand after a lot of trying, just ask a girl and she’ll be happy to elaborate. Assuming that the importance of a few pairs of shoes have been established, I should confess that they are the most difficult to pack and always occupy a lot of space. I always end up feeling bad for the ones which I packed, but then had to leave behind because of a space crunch. Ninety Nine percent of the times, I regret the decision later on. But with a boot space as large as 207 litres and expandable to 1861 liters, I can literally carry half my show shoe-rack with me without being bothered. Okay, I would have to bully people who are travelling with me to let me do that, but you know that’s nothing compared to the guilt of leaving behind a pair. Boots will be happy in the boot- aren’t they just made for each other? 😉

Carrying all those pairs of shoes won’t be half the fun if I can’t show them off to my girl-friends. So, they need to be packed  present too. The 7/8 seater Renault-Lodgy is again the answer because when it comes to girl-friends, ‘the more, the merrier’ is always the mantra. A bunch of women driving through the by-lanes of the city and towards the charm of mountains or beaches seems such an inspiring thought. Leaving the hustle bustle of corporate jungles to enjoy a few days in tranquility with one’s best friends is a precious idea. Not having to struggle to get train tickets booked three months in advance is such a high, I tell you. Just pack up everyone who is ready and you’re good to go without all the hassles that irctc is. Half my world is already there when I have my friends along. Thankfully, my friends will not fight for a seat with better legroom or air-conditioning because all of them are the best seats. So, there’s one less thing to worry about!

I have always fancied carrying an extra bag whenever I travel. It’s a different story that there never is enough space to carry it along. With Renault-Lodgy, I can carry an empty suitcase, let alone a mere bag. With the empty suitcase come endless possibilities to fill it up with things I pick up during the journey or at the destination I visit. To fill it up with things from the local markets and souvenirs and come back with a suitcase of memories would be awesome. Generally, I pack so much that there is hardly any space to indulge in local shopping. But that is going to change with the huge boot of the new Renault-Lodgy. The empty suitcase also represents endless possibilities that I carry with me to create memories of a lifetime which will safely come home with me.

The social butterfly in me cannot live without the gadgets to keep me connected. A cellphone and a tablet to remain within reach and click pictures to share on the go as well as tell the world that I am on a holiday. A digital imprint of a trip makes sure that I am making other people (the friends who didn’t come along) jealous. Yes, I am evil like that. Oh, add  to that gadget list a DSLR that doesn’t tire. The journey and the destination both feature in the pictures that come back. Pictures are the only things that I look forward to after the end of an amazing trip. I would always come back home sad, if it were not for the pictures in my SLR. Yes, I am a girl who clicks and not the one with a selfie-stick. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the response my trip pictures generate on social media. But what’s a trip without some good music? While I am not usually the one who takes up the task of getting the latest songs along, some of my friends live for the praise they get when they share their amazing new playlist. Their gadgets are music players first, and phones/tablets later. If you ask me, I would rather carry audio clips of Gulzar’s poetries rather than music but I don’t always win that argument with my friends.

I am sure the Multimedia System that is state of the art MediaNAV console in the all the Renault Lodgy will be an instant hit since it connects to phones via USB or Bluetooth to play music or answer to calls and also has pre-installed maps and a navigation system. For a gang of girls like mine, Maps are life saviours. The Radio will come to rescue just in case the playlists aren’t good enough. Add to that a mobile charger and this becomes a really powerful entertainment unit. Driving through a lush green forest with curvy roads, rain dripping on the window panes and Gulzar reciting poetry which almost always touches the soul would be nothing but sheer bliss. If there is heaven on earth, it is this. Told you, it’s a soulmate thing.

I am someone who will never be seen in public without kohl-lined eyes. Never ever. So, that black/blue kohl pencil is an important part of my world. It has been my constant companion through the years and has seen me evolve. It has also been a saviour during the times I don’t really want to recall, but let me try. What does a girl do when she must venture out after a hearty cry? A kohl saves the day and no one comes to know. Tried and tested – It works. Every Single Time.

Mostly, a kohl is enough to save the day, but there might be times when one might be unlucky enough to require air-bags and Renault Lodgy takes our safety pretty seriously.

The all new Renault Lodgy also boasts of features like Parking Aid and Eco Mode( to save fuel) So, that’s enough fuel food for thought. No trip is complete without food or talks about food or posting food pictures or spilling food articles in the car. Come On, we all have a friend whose idea of clean eating is like the one below.

Don’t we all hate it when food spills in the car? This sparkling new car from Renault has cup-holders and flight trays that will make sure that there are no more food spills. I guess they will even add a fine-dine experience to all the dhaba food one might get packed on the highways.

With a car like Renault Lodgy, I might just be able to defy all the stereotypes of travelling. Who knows this new machine will change the way the world looks at travel.

I am participating in the #LiveLodgycal contest with Renault in association with BlogAdda to get a chance to be a part of the #LiveLodgycal Drive in Goa.

Of course, there can never be enough shoes.
Nicely done Akanksha. Looks like a great car, even though I know little about them.

It looks like a lovely car. And must say that you have captured the technicalities and other features of the car quite innovatively. Hahaha and I agree the thing about shoes is something I have heard from many of my friends as well :P.
