I started The Chhattisgarh Chapters on the blog a couple of months ago when I got a chance to visit this gold-mine of a state. The trip so was enriching that I just can’t stop writing about it. Isn’t it amazing that even though I’ve already done four posts about Chhattisgarh, I’ve only been able to share just the first twenty four hours of the trip. The state really has so much to offer.
After spending the day loitering around Barnawapara Forests, our expectations from Chhattisgarh had skyrocketed and Day -2 didn’t disappoint either. A sumptuous breakfast and another round of photographs later, we left for Turturiya Springs.
We were told that the spring of water is named ‘Turturiya’ as it makes a classic sound of ‘tur-tur’.
A closer look
Legend goes that this place hosted a Valmiki Aashram where Sita spent considerable time after Luv and Kush were born. In India, if there’s a legend, there’s always a temple to prove it’s truth and Turturiya is no exception.
Turturiya is also a sight of great archaeological importance. Many excavations, dating back to the 8th century have been found. One such statue adorns the temple’s entrance, along with some fairly new ones.
And some others are kept safe in the temple, narrating the tales of a bygone era.
We still have the same Gods. We have evolved, but some things are constants. Thank God for the constants. Irony?

I found this one quite intriguing, maybe because of the haf broken statue from centuries ago lying beside. It says that God is everywhere and it takes only love is to see him.
Though I was not searching for fruits, but I was hungry. Was this God’s way of reminding me that he’s around? I found this fruit, cut in half, lying to be savoured. I don’t remember the name but it was delicious.

Lovely read… though when i went for work trip to durg n raipur.. the officials told me that there isnt adequate infrastructure for tourists to move around in the state.. only thing dept of chattisgarh is doing is promoting on media..
I think you were misguided. Raipur is very well equipped and I was really surprised by the amount of work Chhattisgarh Tourism Board is doing. Trust me, it’s much more than just blatant media promotions.
