Postcards from Jaisalmer

Ever since I read about it in school, Jaisalmer had always intrigued me. It was on my bucket list since a long long time. Last year, finally I got to check it off and add it to the list of places I want to re-visit. I landed there with sky high expectations, and the golden city made sure they were all met. So much so, that selecting pictures for this post turned out to be a really difficult task. Jaisalmer is a beauty beyond words because words can never be enough. It’s worth the hype Rajasthan Tourism has created. My trip to the royal city was about beautiful forts, quaint havelis, pretty sunsets, vast deserts, amazing food, innocent people, rustic music, old-school hospitality and a lot more.

There are places and there are places which make you fall in love at first sight. Jaisalmer is one of the latter kind. It didn’t take me long to figure out that it’s going to be one of the places I would be visiting again. There is a rustic charm about everything all around that makes it all surreal. It feels the city is placed in the current world, cut out straight from a book of history. Golden is a happy color and Jaisalmer lives up to it’s royal name.

The Great Indian Thar Desert is spectacular, to say the least and one of the few which hasn’t really made the earth barren. One can easily spot shrubs though I am unsure how they survive in sand. But, that’s the magic of Jaisalmer I believe. Some picture postcards coming up, to make you fall in love with Jaisalmer.

Well, no picture of dal-bati-churma because I couldn’t wait dipping in. It was all over before I realised I need to click a picture. Heavenly is the word.
